Summary of the session

The world and health systems are facing a transformation much due to the present demands from the economy and from the world markets, which affect the populations. Considering the present financial and economic constraints, innovation has a major role for quality improvement in health care, allowing cost savings.
It seems clear that innovation must be explored within a wider scope that may focus on areas of opportunity such as big data analytics, consumer’s behavior, incentives to the providers and improvement of the health care processes. Within this context smart technology, represents an opportunity for the implementation of initiatives and best practices in health care, promoting continuity of care, more efficient health systems and a
culture of patient safety and quality improvement.
Intelligent personalized healthcare decision support systems are emerging driven by recent technological breakthroughs in the area of Machine/Deep Learning. They represent an enormous step forward to solve the global societal problem of clinical trained human resources shortage. However, there is also some fragility regarding the security of data and the risk of exposure of sensitive clinical knowledge.
In the case of modern AAL (Active Assisted Living) environments they rely on sensitive information that is possible to flow without proper security handling like in IoT (Internet of Things) wireless sensors and mostly the anonymisation and impossibility of ID recreation from knowledge is a scientific question that is vital to be reflected upon.
Sensitive clinical private information leaking from healthcare process knowledge is a most valuable asset, imposing that smarter systems are properly secured once they must guarantee problems that may overcome and possible hazardous consequences to patients.
A Blockchain based solution could be adequate to address secure IoT frameworks, Wireless Body Area Network Sensor raw data protection protocols, secure Deep Learning and Machine Learning algorithms capable of anonymized processing.
