Prof Hwee Sin Chong
Executive Director of Queensland Rural Medical Service at Darling Downs Health, Queensland Health, Australia
Dr Chong is responsible for medical professionalism; the recruitment and performance of doctors, and strategic medical workforce issues for a public health service that has a regional hospital (450 beds) and 15 rural hospitals. Her state-wide responsibilities include operations of medical vocational training in basic and advanced general medicine, intensive care medicine, general paediatric medicine, and leads the development of rural generalist medicine for Queensland. She graduated with a medical degree from Otago, New Zealand, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA). She has both a Master in International Public Health, and a Master in Health Management (UNSW).
She also sits on the Australian Medical Council, Prevocational Standards Accreditation Committee; and is an appointed member of the Medical Practitioners panel of assessors for the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal. In 2021, she was selected for the International Hospital Federation’s Young Executive Leaders program.
