Past President, Sub-Committee for Mental Health at European Association of Hospital Managers
With a background in social anthropology, sociology and Christianity studies and a short career in publishing, Inger Kari Nerheim has worked since 1990 in the hospital sector. First with project leadership of The telemedicine and telematics project, introducing information technology in the somatic services in Rogaland county, she was then given deputy CEO responsibility in the County Health and Social Services, encompassing three hospitals. From 1999 she was CEO of Rogaland Psychiatric hospital, then Divisional director for the specialized mental health services in Stavanger University Hospital. In 2004-2012 Member and 2012-2018 President of Sub-Committee for Mental Health, European Association of Hospital Managers, EAHM. Active in Health Promoting Hospitals, she was 2006-2013 leader of the Norwegian Network of Health Promoting Hospitals and Services and member of HPH Task Force on Mental Health. From 2015-2019 she led a change initiative seeking to implement social recovery as key value in mental health services.
