Marta Arias, MD, PhD graduated as an M.D. from Santander Medical School in 2001 joining the Nephrology and Renal Transplant department at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona in 2003. Since 2007, she moved to the dialysis department, being her research focus in the last years the assessment of hydration and nutritional status in patients with ESRD using different bioimpedance devices. More recently, her main areas of interest are frailty and protein energy-wasting and the possible tools to face them, using different types of nutritional assessment and promoting intra and extra dialysis physical exercise. She is a membership of the Spanish and the Catalan Society of Nephrology and she has 35 original publications, 5 reviews, over 100 abstracts to national and international congresses and 8 book chapters to her credit. She is a professor in the Master of Hemodialysis for Specialists in Nephrology in Madrid.
