Dr. Joel Roos
Vice President International Accreditation, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at Joint Commission International
Dr. Joel Roos, MD, MBA, MHCDS, CPE is the Vice President of International Accreditation for Joint Commission International and an emergency physician. In this role, Dr. Roos is responsible for developing and leading the overall strategic direction of JCI’s accreditation and certification programs. Throughout his career, Dr. Roos has been dedicated to improving patient safety and the quality of care for active military personnel and veterans around the world. Most recently, Dr. Roos was the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Quality, Safety and Value at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) where he provided national leadership in the development and implementation of health care policies and programs to improve patient safety and quality of care. Dr. Roos was the commanding officer at Naval Medical Center San Diego, where he oversaw the 268-bed academic medical center with 6500 military and civilian personnel and 25 graduate medical and dental education programs.
