Dr. Ala Al-Lawati
Head, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at National Heart Centre, Royal Hospital, Oman
Dr. Ala Al-Lawati is the Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the National Heart Centre in Oman. He completed his residency and fellowship training in cardiac surgery at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC. This was followed by advanced fellowship in paediatric cardiac surgery at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Chicago. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, USA. Dr. Ala is certified in Hospital Lean Management. His is also certified in both Clinical Research Methods from the Harvard School of Public Health and Surgical Leadership from the Harvard Medical School. He is a Harvard Medical School Scholar in Surgical Leadership. He received several local awards for his leadership initiatives and his contribution to lean management and performance improvement projects in the Royal Hospital, Oman.
