Session description:

The future of hospitals and their health systems for people, places and planet initiative is a space for multiple stakeholders to come together to shape a transformational agenda to ensure fit-for-future hospitals and health systems in resource-limited settings. The initiative is co-piloted by the IHF, the Geneva Sustainability Centre, the French Development Agency and Aga Khan Development Network.

This collaborative work started late 2023, following on the first successful ‘Green UHC’ session hosted by the Geneva Sustainability Centre.

This session will present the initiative’s work, and the key five thematic areas:

  • Hospitals and health systems workforce support and development.
  • Resource mobilization and access to finance, including hospital financing models for sustainability.
  • Environmentally sustainable hospitals and health systems, focusing on low carbon and sustainable healthcare models.
  • Quality of care provided by hospitals and their health systems.
  • Sustainable governance and public-private partnerships to facilitate transformation.

The session will then focus on the theme of Sustainable Quality of Care in hospitals and health systems in lower resources settings and explore gaps and opportunities.

Anyone who is interested in the agenda is welcome. This session will be interactive to encourage valuable knowledge-exchange and to encourage moving this agenda forward.
