Dr Klaus Schuster

Group CEO, Vitrea, Austria

Klaus Schuster asserts that the synergy between private-sector innovation and clinical excellence is fundamental to a thriving global health ecosystem. As Group CEO of VITREA Group, he leads one of Europe’s premier specialized rehabilitation providers. Under his leadership, VITREA operates over 80 facilities across the DACH region, where a dedicated team of 14,000 employees care for more than 220,000 patients annually.

A trained physician specializing in internal medicine and nephrology, Klaus brings nearly 30 years of healthcare expertise to the global stage. He uniquely bridges the gap between deep clinical knowledge and strategic operational leadership. His session, “Private Healthcare’s Unique Contribution to a Successful Healthcare Sector,” draws on his experience leading VITREA’s landmark 2024 transition into an independent, high-growth healthcare enterprise backed by PAI Partners and Fresenius. He has since accelerated the group’s expansion via the 2025 acquisition of the Paracelsus group and a fundamental restructuring of the organization’s leadership and digital infrastructure.

Drawing on leadership roles at Roche and CARIS Life Sciences, Klaus champions standardized processes and digitalization to deliver scalable, high-quality clinical care. He is currently driving VITREA’s ambitious “Strategy 2030+” to establish the organization as Europe’s preeminent rehabilitation provider through innovation and disciplined, strategic growth.
