Pioneering accreditation standards for low-carbon, sustainable and resilient hospitals

When:

Tuesday 10 September

16:00–17:00

Session description:

The healthcare sector is a major contributor to climate change, which causes harm to populations both locally and globally. Hospitals must act to reduce their carbon and environmental footprint, build resilience to climate-related disruptions, and increase sustainability in their operations, for the benefit of their patients, communities, staff, the environment, and the planet.

Addressing the lack of dedicated frameworks and standards is a pressing need for the healthcare sector to be able to:

  1. address climate change as part of its operations, including quality and safety of care;
  2. assess its performance and progress towards sustainable, low-carbon and resilient healthcare delivery; and
  3. define strategies and priorities.

Learn about the journey of embedding low-carbon, resilient and sustainable healthcare as part of accreditation and certification.
