Mr Alexander de Groot

Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research Database Manager, Intuitive, USA

Mr Alexander de Groot is the Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research Database Manager at Intuitive. He leads a team of data scientists developing tools to answer clinical and economic questions about robotic-assisted surgery using real-world data.

Before joining Intuitive in 2020, Alexander managed and analyzed data for a federally-funded United States Special Project of National Significance evaluating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) care interventions for unstably-housed individuals living with HIV, mental illness, and substance use disorders. He also worked with the Boston Public Health Commission to implement an HIV care needs assessment for the city.

Alexander holds a Master of Public Health degree in biostatistics from Boston University.

Prof. Dr Holger Holthusen

Medical Director, Universitätsklinikum Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum; Knappschaft Kliniken, Germany

Prof. Dr Holger Holthusen studied Theoretical Physics in 1980-1982, studied Human Medicine at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in 1982-1988, and had his doctorate in 1992.

He became a Specialist in Anesthesiology at the University Hospital of Düsseldorf (UKD) and won the research prize of the German Society for Anaesthesiology in the same year of 1997. He focused on habilitation and published “On the functional relationships between endothelium, venous pain, and perivenous edema” in 1998. During the period 1998-2004, Prof. Dr Holger Holthusen was a Senior Physician in Anesthesiology at UKD.

In 1999, he received the Edens Prize from the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. Then in 2004, he had his associate professorship at the University Hospital Düsseldorf. In the succeeding decade, Prof. Dr Holger Holthusen was the Chief Physician for Anesthesia in Paracelsus Clinic Marl from from 2004-2014.

For the next years of 2014-2019, he has become the full-time Medical Director of Klinikum Vest GmbH. Following this, he was the Medical Director of Knappschaft Klinken GmbH in 2019-2022. Currently, he has been serving as the Medical Director of Knappschaft Kliniken GmbH since 2022 and the Medical Director of the University Hospital Knappschaftsklinikum Bochum GmbH since 2024.
