Dr Zeenat Khan

Regional CEO, Aga Khan Health Services, East Africa, Kenya

Dr. Zeenat Khan is the Regional Chief Executive Officer of Aga Khan Health Services in East Africa, overseeing five hospitals and50 outreach centers. She also serves as the AKDN Health System Coordinator for Quality and Patient Safety across East Africa andAsia, and leads the AKU Kampala Campus project.

With over 35 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Khan brings deep expertise in hospital andnursing administration, quality improvement, and patient safety. She has led major hospital planning and construction projects across East Africa, including in Dar es Salaam, Kisumu, Mombasa, and Kampala. Her work spans both academic and non-academic hospital settings, with a strong focus on integrating clinical and non-clinical functions.

Dr. Khan is a Joint Commission International (JCI) Surveyor and serves on multiple hospital boards, including as a Governing Council Member of the International Hospital Federation.

She holds a Doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School, and is a proud alumna of the Aga Khan University School of Nursing. Her global work has provided her with rich insights into diverse healthcare systems and cultural contexts.

Dr. Maria Isabelita M. Estrella has been a member of the Philippine Hospital Association since January 2024. She is the elected Vice President for Government Hospitals for 2026. She has been the medical director of Tondo Medical Center, a government hospital in the Philippines under the Department of Health since 2014.

Prof. Abdul Bari Khan

President & CEO, Indus Hospital Network, Pakistan

Dr. Abdul Bari Khan is a distinguished cardiac surgeon, healthcare leader, and philanthropist who serves as the President and CEO of Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN). A graduate of Dow Medical College (1986) and a Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (FCPS) in Cardiac Surgery, he has dedicated his career to improving access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.

His journey began with efforts to strengthen public healthcare by expanding cardiac surgery services, establishing emergency and blood center facilities, and leading fundraising initiatives to improve patient care. In 2007, he founded The Indus Hospital, built on the principle of providing free, high-quality healthcare to every patient regardless of financial status. Under his visionary leadership, IHHN has grown into one of Pakistan’s largest charitable healthcare networks, comprising 10 multidisciplinary hospitals, 4 regional blood centers, 3 physical rehabilitation centers, 38 primary care sites, and several public health initiatives.

Dr. Khan’s outstanding contributions have earned him numerous national and international honors, including the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. His unwavering commitment to compassionate, equitable healthcare continues to inspire healthcare professionals and transform countless lives across Pakistan.

Dr Dominique Savio Mugenzi

Chairman, Rwanda Private Medical Facilities Association - RPMFA, Rwanda

Dr. Dominique Savio Mugenzi is a Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, entrepreneur, and health systems leader in Rwanda. He is the Owner and Managing Director of Ejo Heza Surgical Centre, a Specialized Hospital founded in 2016 as Rwanda’s first private surgical facility. Under his leadership, Ejo Heza has grown into a center of excellence providing high-quality surgical care in partnership with the Ministry of Health, insurers, and international organizations including Smile Train.

Dr. Mugenzi also serves as Chairperson of the Rwanda Private Medical Facilities Association, where he promotes collaboration, quality standards, and public-private engagement in healthcare delivery.

Before establishing Ejo Heza Surgical Centre, Dr. Mugenzi worked for 18 years at Kigali University Teaching Hospital, gaining extensive clinical and academic experience in orthopedic surgery. His career reflects a commitment to expanding access to safe, timely, and excellent surgical services in Rwanda and in the region.
