GSC peer learning workshop: Leading your hospital’s sustainability transformation

Dr Lubna Mushtaque

Dr. Lubna Mushtaque is a healthcare quality, patient safety, and sustainability professional with more than 20 years of experience working across national and international healthcare organizations. She currently serves as Chief Sustainability Officer and Director of the Quality and Monitoring Directorate at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Pakistan .where she works at the intersection of quality, patient safety, organizational improvement, and sustainable healthcare transformation with a particular focus on building systems that strengthen quality, resilience, efficiency, and long-term organizational performance.

Dr. Mushtaque has worked extensively in clinical operations, quality improvement, risk management, accreditation, and organizational change. She has led and supported accreditation and reaccreditation initiatives involving Joint Commission International (JCI), CBAHI, CAP, AABB.

She began her career in medicine and trained in Plastic Surgery, before transitioning into healthcare management, quality, and organizational improvement. She holds an MPhil in Business Management, MBA in Health and Hospital Management and is a Fellow of ISQua.

Her professional training includes Improvement Science in Action at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Team STEPPS, patient safety, and Environmental and Occupational Health. She has also completed the Patient Safety Programme with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Institute of Leadership.

Dr Aldren Remon

Dr. Aldren Rodriguez Remon, RN, CHA, FANSAP, is the Patient Experience Head and Chair of the Total Quality Management Committee at Saint Louis University–Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU-SHMC), Baguio City, Philippines, where he leads strategic initiatives in patient experience, quality improvement, healthcare innovation, and organizational excellence. He collaborates closely with hospital leaders to advance patient-centered, future-ready healthcare aligned with international quality and sustainability standards.

An accomplished hospital leader and academic, Dr. Remon serves as a Professor at Saint Louis University’s School of Advanced Studies and the School of Nursing, Allied Health, and Biological Sciences. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) with the distinction of Meritus from Saint Louis University and is completing a Doctor of Philosophy in Management.

Dr. Remon is an International Hospital Federation (IHF) Young Executive Leaders 2024 Alumnus and co-leads SLU-SHMC’s healthcare sustainability initiatives and environmental stewardship into hospital practice. As a speaker, researcher, and healthcare leader, he is passionate about shaping patient-centered, compassionate, and technology-enabled health systems that improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.

Dr Jeannie Tey

Jeannie Tey brings nearly 20 years of expertise in public health policy and administration to her role as Group Sustainability Lead, NHG Health She is also Senior Consultant in the Department of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, and serves as Director of Corporate Planning and Chief Sustainability Officer at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Her career is focused on improving population health, shaping health policy, and strengthening health systems. Jeannie has contributed to the development and implementation of health initiatives at both local and national levels.

At NHG Health, Jeannie leads the Sustainability Office, which establishes group sustainability policy and coordinates sustainability efforts across NHG Health institutions. At Tan Tock Seng Hospital, she champions preventive health strategies and steers the hospital’s strategic growth. Her recent work emphasises healthcare sustainability — promoting a systems-based approach that delivers co-benefits for health and the environment. By embedding sustainability into health-systems management, she aims to improve health outcomes while protecting the environment. She is particularly interested in enabling sustained behaviour change and leveraging innovative solutions to address contemporary healthcare challenges.
