Track 5: The human-centred experience – core to all we do

Human-centred care is the foundation of resilient and trusted health systems. They keep the focus on what matters most – people. By building a human-centred experience, health leaders can create environments where patients, families, and the workforce all feel valued and supported.

At this year’s World Hospital Congress, track 5 will highlight how hospitals can embed the human experience at the core of everything they do – from redefining leadership around the patient, to empowering patients and families, advancing personalized care, and much more. Here are just some of the sessions you can attend:

Redefining hospital leadership around the patient

Led by the Geneva University Hospital (HUG), this session brings together insights from two leading academic medical centres – HUG and Cedars-Sinai – both rooted in diverse, dynamic communities and committed to advancing patient-centred care. Chaired by Prof Idris Guessous, it will explore how leadership within these institutions is exercised with, through, and for patients – embedding their voices not only in care delivery, but also in strategy, innovation, and institutional culture. Continuous self-improvement of hospital leaders to strengthen their leadership competencies will also be addressed, as well as reflections on delivering patient-centred care in low-resource settings.

Scaling digital tools to personalize care, streamline access, and boost outcomes

Gain insights into how health systems are using technology to improve care coordination, patient empowerment, and operational efficiency. This session features case studies that showcase how digital innovations can reduce delays, improve satisfaction, and support scalable, patient-centred care.

Empowering patients and families through communication, culture, and care pathways

Explore how hospitals are advancing timely, empathetic, and inclusive care by focusing on patient navigation, family engagement, and cultural integration. This session features innovations which demonstrate how collaboration and tailored support can improve satisfaction, outcomes, and care equity.

The human-centred experience: Elevating care through partnership and innovation

Gain insights into actionable strategies that drive meaningful improvements for the foundation of exceptional care – a human-centred approach. In this session, explore the principles of building patient partnerships and culturally sensitive strategies, as well as the power of digital innovations to enhance links with both individuals and communities. Learn how a patient-first healthcare experience enhances clinical outcomes and boosts trust and engagement.
