Operating 18 hospitals across eight counties, Mr. Tafuri has championed historic clean energy infrastructure. He secured a $134 million deal to install 30 MW of on-site solar energy—making HMH the owner of the largest on-site solar system of any not-for-profit healthcare provider in the U.S.—alongside a $70 million, 36 MW off-site solar agreement. Together, these initiatives reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% and cut overall electricity costs by a quarter. Additionally, he has overseen $147 million in energy reduction investments, capturing 50% of the funding through grants and generating $11 million in recurring annual savings.
