Dr Khawla Alhajaj

Dr. Khawla Issa Al-Hajaj is a Family Medicine Consultant and healthcare leader with over 15 years of experience at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). She serves as Director of Medical Education and Research and Chair of the Scientific Research and Ethics Committee, leading the strategic direction, governance, quality standards, and innovation agenda for medical education and research across the Emirate of Dubai.

Her work focuses on advancing workforce sustainability, strengthening physician development pathways, expanding training capacity, and fostering a culture of research, innovation, and evidence-based practice. She has led transformative initiatives that support healthcare workforce planning, research excellence, and the development of future-ready healthcare systems.

Dr. Al-Hajaj holds an MBBS, MRCGP, Arab Board Certification in Family Medicine, a Master’s degree in Innovation Management, and a Diploma in Diabetes. Her expertise includes medical education, research governance, healthcare workforce planning, digital health, innovation, big data, and strategic foresight. In 2025, she graduated from the UAE Government Leaders Program and the International Hospital Federation’s Young Executive Leaders (YEL) Program.

An accomplished researcher and international speaker, Dr. Al-Hajaj has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at global conferences, including the World Hospital Congress, contributing to healthcare education, research, and policy development regionally and internationally.

Dr Natalia Allué

Dr. Natalia Allué is a healthcare executive with extensive experience in hospital management, healthcare leadership, and organizational transformation. She is committed to advancing patient-centred, sustainable, and value-based healthcare through innovation, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Her professional interests include healthcare transformation, organizational innovation, quality improvement, digital health, and environmental sustainability. She has led and contributed to initiatives that enhance patient experience, optimize clinical pathways, and promote greener healthcare systems, believing that innovation is most successful when driven by collaboration and a shared commitment to excellence.

Dr. Allué actively participates in international healthcare forums, sharing best practices and learning from professionals across diverse health systems. These experiences have strengthened her expertise in leadership, change management, and building resilient healthcare organizations capable of responding to future challenges.

She is also passionate about mentoring healthcare professionals, fostering collaborative cultures, and supporting the next generation of clinical leaders. Her leadership approach is grounded in empathy, transparency, and continuous improvement, with the aim of creating meaningful and lasting impact for patients, healthcare teams, and the wider community.

Dr Javier Baena-Del Valle

Dr. Javier A. Baena Del Valle is a pathologist and Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, Colombia. He is also involved in academic training as Director of the Pathology Residency Program at Universidad de los Andes School of Medicine.

He trained in medicine at Universidad de Cartagena and completed postgraduate work in pathology, including a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular and genitourinary pathology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

His professional work has focused on diagnostic pathology, laboratory medicine, molecular diagnostics, digital pathology, quality improvement and the organization of diagnostic services in hospital settings. In his current role, he has participated in initiatives related to laboratory modernization, workflow redesign, telepathology, molecular testing, workforce organization and the integration of diagnostic services with clinical care.

His interests include the development of sustainable, clinically integrated diagnostic models that improve access to timely and reliable laboratory and pathology services in Latin America.

Ms Elizabeth Han

Elizabeth Han is the Group Head of Innovation and Transformation at IHH Healthcare, where she leads corporate venture investments and strategic partnerships to accelerate the company’s innovation agenda and is driving IHH’s multiyear transformation journey to futureproof care across its global network.

With over a decade of experience in healthcare investing and management, Elizabeth brings deep expertise at the intersection of innovation, transformation, and impact.

Before joining IHH, Elizabeth was an investor at a US healthcare venture capital firm, where she backed digital health and healthcare services companies such as telehealth, primary care, and behavioural health. Passionate about tackling challenges in access to and quality of care, she has advised companies in the US and Asia.

Elizabeth holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California Los Angeles.

Prof. Young-Mee Lee

Dr. Young-Mee Lee is a distinguished leader and scholar in medical education, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Medical Education at Korea University College of Medicine. With over two decades of experience as a board-certified Family Medicine specialist and educator, she has been a pivotal force in national and institutional curriculum reforms. Her leadership is characterized by a commitment to academic excellence, faculty development, and the integration of emerging technologies into medical training.

Dr. Lee earned her M.D. and Ph.D. from Korea University and further specialized in medical education with an MSEd from the University of Southern California (USC).

A prolific researcher, Dr. Lee has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, achieving an Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) of 1.66. Her research spans medical AI, global education, and professionalism. Her notable publications include defining medical AI competencies , exploring physician empathy , and investigating unprofessional behaviors in medical training. She has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Korean Journal of Medical Education (KJME) and currently sits on the editorial boards of TAPS and International Medical Education.

Dr Paula Turunen

Paula Turunen is Director of Mental Health and Substance Use Services at Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County, Finland. She is a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and holds an Executive MBA (eMBA). Before moving into executive leadership, she gained extensive clinical experience, providing a strong foundation for healthcare transformation and change management.

Throughout her career, Paula has led major service development and organizational transformation initiatives, focusing on quality, operational excellence, and person-centred care. Together with Lilli Väisänen, Service Development Manager, she received the Local Government Employers’ Important Work Award in recognition of their joint contributions to healthcare development.

Turunen and Väisänen co-developed the Assi-Pass Change Leadership Framework, a practical model for leading large-scale functional transformation during the transition to a new hospital.

At the IHF World Hospital Conference, Paula will present “Leading Large-Scale Functional Transformation in a New Hospital Transition: The Assi-Pass Change Leadership Framework,” sharing practical lessons from leading complex organizational change in healthcare.
