Dr Amal Al Sabahi

Paediatric Haematologist Oncologist, The Royal Hospital, Oman

Dr. Amal Al Sabahi is a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist-Oncologist at The Royal Hospital in Muscat, Oman. She is actively involved in the diagnosis and management of childhood haematologic disorders and paediatric cancers, with a special interest in paediatric solid tumours and bone marrow transplantation. Her professional interests include clinical research, quality improvement, medical education, coaching, effective communication, adverse event disclosure, and improving the patient experience. Dr. Al Sabahi serves as the Program Director of the Paediatric Haematology Oncology Fellowship in Oman and is a faculty member in Paediatrics and Paediatric Haematology-Oncology at the Oman Medical Specialty Board. She is committed to training and mentoring paediatric residents and fellows while promoting excellence in postgraduate medical education. As one of The Royal Hospital’s surveyors, she contributes to the implementation and assessment of Accreditation Canada International (ACI) and World Health Organization (WHO) standards to enhance quality, patient safety, and healthcare excellence. Dr. Al Sabahi has presented her work at national, regional, and international conferences and hospitals and is dedicated to advancing paediatric cancer care, strengthening healthcare systems, and delivering patient-centred, high-quality care.

Play Therapist (Child Life Specialist), Queen Silvia's Children's Hospital - Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Sweden

Jenny Berggren is a Certified Teacher working as a Play Therapist, and Section Manager at the Play Therapy & Library Unit at Queen Silvia’s Children’s Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. With a background in education and extensive experience in pediatric healthcare, she works to promote children’s participation, understanding, and well-being during hospital stays. The play therapy provides meaningful activities for children and families at the hospital as well as supporting childrens understandig of the hospital stay.

Jenny has participated in the development of several innovative, child-centered approaches, including the “Participation Book,” a pedagogical tool designed to help children cope with medical procedures and reduce anxiety. She is actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations, including preparing children for MRI examinations without anesthesia, and is a member of a multiprofessional pediatric palliative care consultation team.

In her leadership role, Jenny is responsible for operational planning and professional development, including designing and delivering internal training programs in play therapy within healthcare. She also lectures healthcare professionals and students on topics such as child-centered care, communication, and palliative care for children.
