Introducing WHC2025’s plenary sessions line-up
Plenary session 1
Envisioning 2050: The intersection of AI and healthcare
11 November, 9:15 – 10:30
Chair: Ms Sara Siegel, Global Head of Healthcare, Deloitte, UK
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers innovative solutions for diagnosis, treatment, and care management. It is important to explore both the potential and the challenges of AI through a holistic approach that comprehensively addresses future clinical, educational, and regulatory needs to ensure efficient and effective implementation.
This plenary session will offer an intriguing glimpse into the future of AI in healthcare, exploring its potential, the obstacles to overcome, and the possibilities for the next generation of healthcare professionals and patients alike.
Plenary session 2
Beyond the hospital: A system-wide approach to low-carbon healthcare
12 November, 9:00 – 10:30
Chair: Mr Bertrand Levrat, Group Chief Operating Officer, Mediclinic, Switzerland
Climate change has a direct and increasingly damaging impact on community health and healthcare delivery. Luckily, our sector has many opportunities to take positive actions for a healthier planet and healthier people. Individual hospitals are advancing their sustainability and resilience, but transformative change at the system level is a less explored area.
The panel in this plenary will share insights on navigating policy, addressing the financial constraint arguments, resolving the complexities of individual hospitals objectives, and much more. The panel’s success stories and lessons learned will inspire action.
Plenary session 3
A healthcare leader’s greatest challenge: Workforce strategies that work
13 November, 9:00 – 10:30
Chair: Dr Peter Pronovost, Chief Quality & Clinical Transformation Officer, University Hospitals, USA
There is a worldwide shortage of clinical healthcare workers. The crisis is exacerbated by the well-known factors of an increasingly ageing population, issues of burnout and work–life balance, challenges in providing training and education, and geographical disparities.
Plenary 3 will introduce a selection of solutions that are currently in use successfully in different settings across the globe. No matter the hospital or health system, these strategies can be adopted and adapted to start addressing local workforce challenges.
